K&J stands for Kevin and Jen—partners in life and in business. When we’re not at our day jobs, you’ll usually find us at home creating custom products while juggling family life with our three kids and our new granddaughter. It’s busy, it’s chaotic, and we wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Our business didn’t start where it is today. In fact, it’s gone through several chapters, each one teaching us something new and shaping what Crafted by K&J has become.

Jen’s Jars was our first venture. The idea came while Kevin was working as a rideshare driver, where keeping the car smelling clean was a top priority. We loved scented gel jars, but they never seemed to last long enough, so we researched and developed our own longer-lasting version. Riders constantly commented on how great the car smelled, and many suggested we sell them—so we did. We expanded into candles and soaps as well, and that’s when we realized we had something bigger than a single product.

Next came Kevin’s Custom Prints, where we focused on printed materials like business forms, business cards, and branding items for small businesses. While that idea didn’t grow as quickly, it sparked constant questions from customers about T-shirts and custom items. Neither of us had experience with vinyl, heat presses, or design software at the time, but we dove in, learned fast, and started making shirts and mugs.

Running two separate businesses, websites, and accounting systems quickly became impractical, so we merged everything into one brand: K&J Handmade Crafts. Under that name, we expanded into sublimation and later added embroidery, and we stayed in that space for several years.

Like many small businesses, life and work eventually took priority and our side business slowed down. We made a big decision to change careers and cut our work hours in half so we could focus again on what we loved creating.

Around that same time, 3D printing became affordable for home businesses. Kevin bought one printer and was instantly hooked. One became three… then better printers… then multicolor printers… and now we have a dedicated print room with ten printers running almost nonstop. With everything we offer now—custom apparel, drinkware, embroidery, and 3D printing—we knew it was time for a name that truly fit what we do.

That’s how we became Crafted by K&J.
